Pack like A PRO for your next ANGLING DESTINATION

My job takes me all over the world, and oftentimes to remote, off-grid locations where having the right gear and functioning equipment is essential  

Here is my go-to check-list when packing for fly to destinations:  

 

  • 2 pairs of Polaroid glasses (in case you lose or break a pair)Waterproof

  • Sunscreen SPF 30+ (UVA) (UVB) (waterproof)

  • Fly Rods 8/9/6 Weights (no less than 3 rods) the

  • rod weight depends on your targeted species.

  • Reels to match each rod

  • Fly Lines and extras

  • Leaders, Fluorocarbon Tippet, and Wire

  • Long needle nose pliers, fishing pliers with wire cutter.

  • Hook Sharpener

  • Stripping Fingers/gloves, finger tape, and fishing-sun protection glovesWaders,

  • cap or hat, and buffs.

  • Felt Sole Wading Boots with Studs or vibrim grip

  • Gravel Guards or Wading Socks with Cuff

  • Rain Jacket and light weight Pants

  • Synthetic Long underwear

  • light weight Synthetic Fleece Top

  • 3 Long Sleeve Fishing Shirts

 

  • 3 Pairs of Fast Drying Pants

  • 3 Pairs of Socks for Wading or Light Weight Neoprene Socks

  • swimsuit, casual travel clothes, shorts, and other favorite comfort clothes.

  • Lightweight airport shoes, trekking hikers, and boat sandals/ flip flops are recommended.

  • Tape measure

  • Waterproof camera, storage cards, batteries, and charger Smartphone or Tablet with charger, universal adapter for the charger

  • Insect repellent with 30%+ DEET and "anti-itch" cream for possible bites.

  • Flashlight/head lamp for streamside and camp

  • Water bottle & dry gatorade mix

  • Lip balm with sunscreen (highest SPF you can get)waterproof bag or back pack (100% waterproof) (

  • for camera or other valuable articles).

  • Passport or ID (with at least 6 months of validity)

  • 2 copies of your passport (packed separately in a zip-lock bags)

  • Check if you need an "e-visa" to enter the country you are fishing in: i.e., Brazil needs an e-visa (online application) weeks prior to leaving.

  • vaccines up-to-date. Vaccinations like yellow fever are required for entry to many countries. Be aware of regulations.

  • Airline tickets and itinerary

  • Cash (small bills for tips, gift shopping, etc.), credit card

  • Cash for guide gratuity

  • Notebook and pens

  • Emergency telephone numbers

  • Toiletries like shampoo, hand lotion, bandages, rolls of athletic adhesive tape, and protection for joints like knees, wrists, and
    ankles if you need them. 

  • Prescription medications (packed in your carry-on bag)

  • Prescription glasses

  • Lighter or matches (checked luggage only)
